Texas Recovery Fund Notice


If you're considering buying a home and wish to file a complaint against a mortgage banker or a licensed residential mortgage loan originator, you can complete a complaint form and send it to the Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending, located at 2601 North Lamar, Suite 201, Austin, Texas 78705. You can obtain complaint forms and detailed instructions on the department's website at www.sml.texas.gov. 

For immediate assistance, a toll-free consumer hotline is available at 1-877-276-5550.


The department also manages a recovery fund designed to provide payments for certain actual out-of-pocket damages suffered by borrowers due to acts committed by licensed mortgage banker residential mortgage loan originators. To be eligible for a claim, a written application for reimbursement from the recovery fund must be submitted to and investigated by the department.
